How to Rock Your Community with DJ Studio Equipment Print E-mail
Tuesday, 17 July 2007
DJ studio equipment is different than the equipment you would find in most clubs and parties. DJ studio equipment is used for radio broadcasting and recording. You probably will not make much money when you buy your own DJ studio equipment, but you can have a lot of fun and give a little something back to the community. One great way to rock your community with DJ studio equipment is to take it on the radio.

Believe it or not, you do not need to go to college or spend an internship at a radio station to be a radio DJ. All you need is DJ studio equipment, a few lessons in HAM radio, and some idea of the laws regarding starting a radio station.

HAM radio is simply about amateur radio. For HAM radio you will need some additional studio DJ equipment such as receivers, circuits, and antennas in order to use the AM station of your choice. The station must not be in use at the time. You must also be careful that you do not break any FCC guidelines when using HAM radio.

Once you have all of that out of the way, you can set up your DJ studio equipment and look like one of the real pros. A microphone, compact disc player, computer, phone, and typical DJ equipment will be needed in addition to your HAM radio equipment. Most radio stations use strictly digitally stored MP3s, but you will probably use a combination of downloads and discs, so make sure that you have a CD player too.

When you have all of your HAM radio and DJ studio equipment, you are ready to rock your community. Hit the air and speak your mind. Play your own mixes or just your favorite calls. Act as a sounding board for teens in your community, or just simply have fun.

Get your friends to spread the word about your new DJ studio equipment and radio air times, and you will find that you gain a community following like none other. Just remember to use your DJ studio equipment wisely. If you break FCC guidelines, you will end up in jail just like Christian Slater in Pump Up the Volume.
