Dell Wireless Router Print E-mail
Thursday, 05 July 2007
Today, many people have two or more computers in their homes. A router is a device that can connect the computers together to form a network. Forming a network allows users to share files and programs stored on each computer in the network. Typically, home networks use an Internet Protocol (IP) wired or wireless router. An IP router utilizes either a DSL or cable modem broadband router to connect the home's local area network (LAN) to the wide-area network (WAN) of the Internet.

Dell is a leading manufacturer of computers, printers, servers, TVs and other electronic devices. Founded in 1984 by Michael Dell, the company now ranks at number 34 on the Fortune 500. With more than $57 billion in revenue last year, it's obvious that Dell offers high-quality products that consumers wants and needs.

Dell offers a variety of wireless routers including the Dell Wireless 2300 broadband router and the Dell Wireless 2350 router.

Dell's Wireless 2300 broadband router is well suited for the home networker. Although this wireless router supports several operating systems, it is best suited for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Dell's Wireless 2300 broadband router offers multiple security options including a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall and parental controls. The parental controls allow users to block Internet access for specific computers by time of day. They also allow users to limit Internet access completely or restrict it to certain Web sites. If you have children, the Dell Wireless 2300 broadband router helps you control what they can and cannot access and when they can have access to it.

This wireless router is relatively simple to install. Users only need to insert the Setup Wizard CD, which will scan your network and automatically configure settings for both your computer and the wireless router.

The Dell 2350 wireless broadband router is an affordable option for those on a budget or those who simply like to save money. This wireless router retails for around $59. The downside to this wireless router is that it moves data at about half the speed of the Dell 2350 wireless router.

The design of the Dell 2350 wireless router makes it difficult to stand on its end. However, it has built-in wall brackets which make it easy to mount on the wall. Because it tends to fall over when sitting on a desk, wall mounting is the ideal solution and helps to free up space on your desk.

The Dell 2350 wireless router makes a good choice for individuals who will only use the router for basic tasks such as Web surfing and e-mailing.
