Undoubtedly, because the computer processor is the part of the computer that actually controls the computer’s functioning you will want a computer with the very best computer processor available. That being the case, just what makes one computer processor better than another? Aren’t all computer processors the same? No, not exactly. In fact, computer processors vary, not only in price, but they also vary in processing speed.
The speed of computer processors is measured in Megahertz or Gigahertz. Megahertz is a measurement that is actually equivalent to a million cycles per second and Gigahertz measures a billion cycles per second. The typical personal computer operates at about 500 Megahertz, but there are computers that use 1 Gigahertz. If you are buying a computer, you will need to give consideration to such measurements as you determine your needs. If you want to use your computer processor for simple functions like that of word processing or accounting, then you can rely on a slower computer processor with little to no difficulty. In contrast, if you plan to use your computer for intense computer gaming or for creating and rendering graphics, you are going to want a computer processor with a higher speed processor. Does the cost of computer processors increase with their speed? Yes, the more speed a processor has the more it will cost. Further, one must consider that if they have a high speed computer processor in a laptop that the battery will not last as long as it would with computer processors that have a slower processing speed. |
