Why Choose Stained Glass Lamp Shades Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 August 2007
Stained Glass offers a beautiful myriad of color to any room.  Because it’s usually a very busy pattern, you should choose the room where you’ll use your stained glass lamp shade with care.  The beauty deserves to be admired, not hidden among the rest of the décor. When choosing stained glass lamp shades, there are two main types of glass to help you decide.  Translucent glass focuses on one color; opalescent streaks and merges two or more colors in a milky appearance.  You can have stained glass shades with cracked patterns or those with rippled water-like patterns.

If you want a lamp shade that doesn’t show dust easily, the stained glass is a good choice.  The eye will focus on the color and beautiful shapes of the shade rather than the dust!  These type shades are also a great choice if you have a limited budget and want at least one piece of your furnishings to stand out.  The stained glass will perk up any drab room.  It will also provide beauty in rooms with plain surroundings if you choose other stained glass pieces to dress up other parts of the room.

Stained glass comes in plenty of other forms to help your lamp shades make the most of a room.  It is sold as cabinet inserts, door pieces, stained panels, glass plant stakes, light panels, accent lamps, sun catchers, and fixtures.

Egyptians enjoyed glass making.  Romans decorated their sacred churches with stained glass, often depicting religious scenes with the beautiful colors and patterns.  Since the 1800’s, people have enjoyed stained glass in their homes and businesses.  It adds elegance to the atmosphere.  Usually the affluent families were the ones to use the glass as a symbol of their wealth.  Now there are factories worldwide that create stained glass pieces for the general public.

A lamp shade complete with base can cost several hundred dollars, but there are affordable lamp shades.  There are free patterns one can use to create their own special stained glass pieces.  Books for stained glass making can cost as little as $5.00.  Hobby craft stores sell the kits to help you create your own lamp shades.  There are also thrift stores and discount stores that sell reduced-price stained glass lamp shades.  It’s just a matter of how personal and colorful you wish to make your décor.
