Check the laws before you open the lingerie store. For instance some cities have laws against selling anything of sexual nature within their city limits. You might want to check this first if you have taken out the option of going the online route. If you are able to sell in your city, try to do a survey somehow of the city folk. Find out if they would be interested in this particular kind of store. Their answers will determine if you will be locally successful.

Not all your local people have to give you their business to be successful. When word of mouth gets around you could get people from other surrounding cities. It will all depend on your lingerie store and the prices and service people receive.

Once you find a place and have the funding to buy or rent the lot, you need to figure out what to sell. Will you sell just one type of lingerie or a variety? Will you sell the basic lingerie or will you also include some risqué lingerie? You want to think of how much inventory you will need at one time as well as the cost of the mannequins and other shelving and rack accessories you will need.

This should all be in your business plan as well. You need to consider if you are going to be running your lingerie store or if you are going to hire someone to help you. You might want to start out on your own at first. This way you can get a feel of how it will go, etc. When you start to pick up more business you will know when to hire help.
