Data retention period is important as this can vary from as little as 30 days upwards to no limit. In addition, does the provider generate the encryption (they could read data) or can the client do this. Also, is the billing automated (will u get a nasty surprise if u mistakenly backup a lot of data) or do they contact u before incresing bill s u can clear data)
