Law of attraction is a school of thought which believes in identification of one’s aim and thinking towards its fulfillment. Thinking does not merely mean intensive thinking about the goal, but its realization. The Law of attraction has its roots in ancient Hinduism and in the teachings of Buddha which explains one’s action as the direct consequence of one’s thought. Law of attraction also surfaced in the 19th century in West, under the garb of “positive thinking”. William Walker Atkinson’s book Thought Vibration or the Law of attraction in the Thought World published in 1906 is one of the earliest discussions on the Law of attraction.
Modern believers of the Law of attraction are of opinion that the theory originates from Quantum Physics, in its treatment of thoughts as atoms. Just as atom have energy and are drawn towards atoms with similar energy composition, so are thoughts drawn towards same kind of thoughts. Thus, Law of attraction point out that "like attracts like". This explains that thoughts relating to one’s goal attract thoughts centering on the ways to achieve it, eventually attracting thoughts of reaching the goal. Law of attraction stresses upon the fact that thoughts have enormous power and if managed correctly can bring about radical changes in one’s life. Reaching one’s end does not necessarily mean monetary success or fame, but a feeling of satisfaction endowed with a sense of accomplishment. The Law of attraction operates on three basic principles: identification of one’s aim, strong belief in its fulfillment and readiness to accept. This point out that one must be absolutely clear about his or her wants, believe in reaching the end and come out successful. Focused thinking on one’s end and consistent attention on the ways to attain is what forms the crux of the Law of attraction. Positive thinking or optimistic attitude is integrally linked with man’s actions. The Law of attraction also states that the path for reaching the end may change its course in the process, but not the thinking process. So, along with belief in one’s mission and the possibility of its fulfillment, withdrawal of negative thoughts is also necessary. It is because negative thoughts breed negative situations leading to negative results. On the other hand, the Law of attraction which operates on the strength of positive thoughts is capable of preventing negative experiences. It is because consistent thinking of withdrawal from something negative may actually result in the total disappearance of the negative situation. |
