Top Three Favorite Deep Fryer Recipes Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 August 2007
Recently I took a poll online and off to find out what top deep fryer recipes people would love to own. I was thrilled at the results, which were as follows: The first favorite of the deep fryer recipes was for French-fries. This recipe is a simple one, and so after looking through my collection I have decided to share my recipe for steak fries. To begin, take Idaho potatoes (or your own favorite kind) and slice them into quarter-inch strips. Take these slices and cut them into three-quarter to one inch slices. If you do not want the potato peel left on, feel free to cut it off.

Heat oil to 320 degrees, blot fries with paper towels, and in small batches cook for two to three minutes. Once cooked, place on baking sheet lined with paper towels. Now place the oil at 375, then cook fries once more for one minute. This makes the fries tender in the middle but crunchy on the outside – yum!

The second favorite of the deep fryer recipes was hot wings. Although not my particular favorite, here is my own take on this classic: Begin with thawed wings for safety. Wash the wings in hot water for extra precaution. Cut the wings at the joint and remove tips. Once patted dry with paper towels, lay a small batch in the basket and cook at 450 degrees for about twenty minutes. Meanwhile, take a half cup each of butter and hot sauce, and combine. Once the wings are done, coat in mixture and place on a plate with a small bowl of blue-cheese dressing in the middle – enjoy!

The third favorite of the deep fryer recipes was donuts. I love to make my own donuts, and here is a very simple method for making your own from my family cook book: Take a canister of instant biscuits and cut a hole out of the middle of each one. Once the oil heats up to 375 degrees, place biscuits into oil. Allow to fry for about one and a half to two minutes, turning often to make sure both sides cook evenly. Once golden, place on paper towels. For a simple glaze, combine about a third cup of hot to boiling water to a cup of powdered sugar. Dip donuts and let dry – delicious!

With these three deep fryer recipes you almost have a full meal! I hope you and your family enjoys these as much and my own does, and remember to have fun while always keeping safe when using your deep fryer!
