As any gardener can tell you, a workman is only as good as his tools. Just as one would never dream of attempting to drive down the middle of the interstate with a bicycle, one should not attempt to landscape without the proper materials. While chances are it the end result would not be as catastrophic as a 50 car pile up it is impossible to achieve the desired results without first investing in the necessary equipment. Necessary equipment to be purchased is directly decided by what it is the landscaper is trying to achieve.
For anyone with a yard of any kind the first piece of equipment they are going to need to purchase is going to be a lawnmower. The size, shape and type is up for negotiation and can be determined in accordance with the landscaper's personal preference. For a house with a multitude of trees surrounding the yard space it may be prudent to purchase a mulching lawnmower to expedite leaf removal; however, this is certainly not a necessity. There are many who still choose to remove leaves the old-fashioned way, with a rake, garbage bag and children in tow to undo the work of the moment it is done. If needed, weed whackers and hedge trimmers should also be considered. These can be either gas or battery powered.A number of hand tools are going to be needed. A saw is essential for the removal of tree branches, and any electric chain inside can be an invaluable tool if it appears that more extensive tree and hedge removal will be necessary. A shovel, trowel garden rake (for the leaf excavation mentioned above) and pruning shears are also going to be an invaluable. The equipment needs of the professional landscaper are going to greatly differ from those of the do-it-yourselfer; it may be wise to confer with a professional landscaping equipment company prior to purchasing equipment for a large landscaping job. |
