Where Can I Find Prostate Cancer Support Print E-mail
Friday, 11 May 2007
The internet site, Prostate Cancer Support offers support to all those affected by prostate cancer. This is accomplished through the National Prostate Cancer Helpline, Local Support Groups, and information packs. PSA was set up by a small group or prostate cancer patients in 1995 and is now a national association of self-help and support groups that are based mainly in South East England.

The site is managed by and for men with prostate cancer, their families and those who are interested in improving the care and support of those who suffer with prostate cancer. The services are free to everyone and are funded by subscriptions and donations. This is a registered charity. Us Too is another internet site for those with prostate cancer. They provide information and support to these men and their families. Some of the information on this site include:

* Understanding treatment choices for prostate cancer.
* Special news about prostate cancer for men at high risk.
* What you need to know about better bone health.
* Taking care of yourself while living with cancer.
* Prostate cancer patients guide to hormone therapy
* Circles of love discussions.
* Everything wives need to know about their partners prostate cancer.
* Video tapes and DVDs on the subject of prostate cancer.
 And plenty of other information, support and help for prostate cancer patients and their loved ones.

At www.healthboards.com you will find links, message boards for prostate cancer support and addresses to support groups for prostate cancer patients and their families. Support groups consist of people who come together to share common experiences and problems especially associated with their disease or condition. These groups are formed to deal with four main sources of stress– mental or physical illness, addictive or obsessive behavior, personal crisis and life change, and caring for disabled or elderly family members.

People are helped in many ways by providing a place to meet people who share a common bond, a chance to talk to other people who are having the same experiences as them, and to help people work through current experiences and get on with the daily task of living.
