What is The Herpes Virus Print E-mail
Saturday, 04 August 2007
Herpes or HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) is viruses that run in two forms type one and type two. Type one is typical of when have a cold and you get it in your mouth when you’re sick or having a hormonal imbalance. They start out as painful little blisters that are sometimes filled with pus and will bleed if something rubs it too hard. That’s why for people who have cold sores it’s ideal to rinse your mouth out with warm water and baking soda since it helps relieve the itching and pain.

Herpes is what you call a nuisance infection since it repeatedly keeps coming back, but with cold sores they show up only if someone’s stressed or has a chemical imbalance where as the sexual type is what it is. Having type one (oral) can last anywhere from 2 to 10 days when it’s in the active infection stage. A good 80-90% of Americans have the herpes simplex type one-virus antibodies when they’re younger and will become problematic later on. Sometimes symptoms can be confused with canker sores and other things like chlamydia and gonorrhea. Sometimes outbreaks with type one and type two can be triggered to stress, secondary infections to other things and in women when they’re menstruating. This is why it’s important to watch for any significant changes in the condition and if it’s becoming a bother to you where it’s not tolerable it’s time to see your doctor.

Most cases herpes types one and two are identical when placed under a microscope, but the difference with these two is one is above the waist and the second is below the waist. People haven’t really understood that both viruses are identical, but the infection rate is much different where the oral outbreak occurs when stress or chemical imbalance happens where as the genital type has a more frequent outbreak due to illness or stress. This is where people learn the vast difference between the two in terms of its outbreak frequency. There is no cure for herpes, but there are anti-viral medications that can help shorten and even prevent an outbreak during the time the individual is consistent with their medical treatments for herpes.
