What is Heartburn Indigestion Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 April 2007
Heartburn indigestion is a little more severe than regular indigestion. Heartburn indigestion is more a burning sensation that seems to center near the heart. Actually it is behind the rib cage near the diaphragm. The burning sensation is caused by acid and pepsin that back up and crowd farther up into the esophageal area. This acid is a byproduct of the bacteria in your large intestine trying to digest food that is a bit harder to digest. Cooked meat, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, beans and spicy foods are the biggest culprits. When the bacteria has to work harder more byproduct (intestinal gas and acid) is released causing discomfort and, many times, a burning sensation.

You may use over-the-counter remedies to alleviate this problem. Calcium carbonate, Alka-Mints, Rolaids, Tums, magaldrate, Lowsium, Riopan, Phillips’ Milk of Magnesia, Gelusil, magnesia, magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium trisilicate, sodium bicarbonate, and Alka-Seltzer are pretty much the extent of over the counter indigestion remedies. You may need to experiment a bit to find the best indigestion remedy for you.

If these remedies do not help you may have a condition called GERD. Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease can be a very painful ordeal. If you are experiencing severe heartburn indigestion quite often you should get checked out by your physician. There are prescription drugs to help this condition. With GERD, the acid and peptides back up into your esophagus and throat. If this is condition is left untreated it could cause severe damage to your esophagus and throat. This damage is often irreparable.

With GERD you will need to take care as the symptoms mimic those of a heart attack. The burning in the chest and a severe squeezing feeling, Pain in your neck, arm, chest, shoulders or back, can all be signs of a problem with your heart. If you even expect your symptoms of heartburn indigestion are heart related, do not hesitate to call 911. It is far better to be safe than to be sorry.

Aloecure is a great product. I\'ve had acid reflux for years, and I started to take Aloecure a few weeks ago. The result is amazing.
