In the recent years criminal justice system has acquired global proportions with geopolitical issues like terrorism transcending national boundaries and changing the face of security systems everywhere. National security has become the primary concern everywhere and the need for enterprising and talented criminal justice personnel is more urgent than ever. In India too the need has been felt for qualified and talented criminal justice professionals.
Many Indian students are enrolling for online criminal justice courses offered by some American accredited universities. Many schools in the United States offer online study facilities to foreign students. However the admission requirements foreign students in criminal justice courses are more stringent than those required for domestic students, even though the basic requirements remain more or less the same. The applicant will have to provide transcript to prove that he has successfully completed a certain level of academic studies, specified by the school, in his native country. The transcripts should be sent directly to the universities via sealed air mail. Transcripts must include; the level of study, list of subjects, studies and marks (grades) obtained, dates of attendance, rank in class when possible, and the grading system used. Transcripts must be in English and the detailed reports of examinations taken and the final average should be included.Other than that any Indian student applying for online criminal justice courses has to secure a minimum of five hundred in TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Languages). If one has completed a two semesters of college level English and secured an equivalent of grade B then he might be excluded from taking a TOEFL. The applicant might also have to submit a GRE score report. The official score sheets of the tests must be submitted with the exact dates and scores. Besides American Universities, several other reputed universities based in Australia, Canada and UK offer online courses in criminal justice for Indian students. In most of the cases they too require TOEFL scores and GRE scores, to be submitted through the official score reports. The costs of internet and other communication expenses have to be borne by the applicant. There are many Indian Universities that offer high quality criminal justice courses but only a meager of them have facilities for online education, even though some of them do engage in distance learning programs. |
