Components of Successful Email Marketing Print E-mail
Monday, 28 May 2007
Email marketing uses direct electronic mail as a form of direct marketing to communicate messages which are commercial in nature to a given audience. Broadly speaking, all e-mails sent to potential clients or existing clients fall under the purview of email marketing. Generally, the term e-mail marketing is referred to as any of the following things.

• E-mails used to better relationships between a vendor and his customer, whether new or existing, and to increase loyalty of the customer and get repeat business.
• Sending e-mails to get all new customers or pre-existing ones to buy from the vendor a product or service immediately.
• Putting your advertisement with an e-mail sent by another company to their clients.
• E-mails that are sent via the internet – E-mail did and still exists outside the domain of the Internet like Network E-mail, FIDO, etc.

There are many components to a good email marketing campaign. Choosing the correct email list provider is very important as he is responsible for you selecting your audience. Learning the laws of spamming, and being aware of your rights is very important when you do email marketing as well.

Guidelines for Successful Emailing

1. One of the three guidelines for successful emailing is to make your offer interesting and attractive to the customer. ‘Buy one get one free’ will get you many more responses than ‘Buy it for $N’. Be sure to word the offer well.

2. The list of people you are sending it to. You need to make sure the offer you make is sent to the people for whom it was intended. You are better off not mixing with people who spam, as you are bound to get into trouble sometime.

3.  The last but very important point is the ad itself. The email has to be attractive in design, and must appeal to the audience you want to send it to. Try and get professional help with design and content to dress up your ad for the right consumer base. Make a clear transparent offer with matter which is concise and to the point. These points if used correctly will help in getting you much better results and more efficient ad campaigns.

Email marketing is a fast growing industry with estimates from experts that US firms alone have spent over $400 million last year in 2006 on e-mail marketing. Email marketing has come a long way over the years, with specific emails targeting specific demographics. It is fast becoming the latest medium for showing advertisements.
